The Crass is Always Greener
Dear All,
Yesterday I was walking home alone at night. I'm sure if you're a female, you know that this is prime time to get cat-calls from whoever is on the street. Well, I noticed that some man noticed me, so I slightly smiled and averted my gaze... and guess what?
He said, "Thank You" as I passed.
...
Still creepy.
Being in Edinburgh has been very interesting indeed. I pass by stores and constantly wish for my own Harris Tweed, and I regularly buy Scotch Eggs, which are just okay but a delicacy I am unwilling to pass up. I now drink straight whisky, and enjoy Cranachan (whisky/cream/honey/raspberry/oats dessert). The general public is not so much Scottish as it is every other type of European, with the American twang blanketing most conversations I've had thus far. Everyone around the world is coming to partake in the festival, and that means Edinburgh becomes a highly diverse city in August.

Lucky me, I've already heard stand-up from an Australian Comedian, and I am looking forward to meeting more Aussies while I'm here. In the meantime, I get reminders of my life in Australia. I've had a resurgence of Weetabix brekkies and sausage rolls are a menu item in most cafes. Actually, that's pretty much it. Personal shoutout to +Vanessa Dang - I saw you in a shop!

Sal has gotten herself sick in Week 1 of performances; luckily for me and for the success of the show, it's primarily stayed in my nose, leaving my voice pretty normal. When not sleeping, I'm onstage or eating. No complaints there. I've finally picked up the novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. The cover says it's "Heartbreaking". In just one sitting, I wonder, how can it get more heartbreaking than this? Better keep reading... I may need a batch of tissues... for my cold.

| Hosseini is responsible for The Kite Runner and And The Mountains Echoed, both of which I strongly recommend. |
How's the Performances Going, Sal?
Really well, thanks. If you have any ability to come see it, please do! We had a bunch of friends from Cardiff come up for this arvo's performance, which proved a lively event indeed! Even with sickness, the show goes on, even with small crowds, the show goes on, and we're all having a great time. Having a 3-week run is a great feat for us who are starting out as actors; it's a great lesson in endurance physically as well as keeping up energy throughout the run. We're all learning, it's all good.
If you're trying to contact me, I'm pretty uncontactable. Send birthday presents to 3/43 Dalmeny St.
I'm joking.
