I'm Never Speaking Up Again

Are You a John Mayer Fan?

If you are, and you don't recognise the title of this post, shame on you! John sings "I'm never speaking up again; it only hurts me" in his 2001 debut album, Room for Squares. The song is dubbed "My Stupid Mouth". Fan or not, I bet you can figure out what the song's about. His message:  Say too much? Sever a relationship.

Later on in his career, John releases "Say", his most successful song to date, winning a Grammy for best male pop vocal performance, and reaching number twelve on the top 100 Billboards in 2007 (Wiki). Regardless of his success, this song shows a completely different attitude, claiming "it's better to say too much, than never to say what you need to say."

OMG! Complex Human Being

Well, we could call John a hypocrite...

or we could acknowledge a perfect example of humanity. We change, we evolve. Sometimes we have urges that, when ignored, eat at us until they explode. Like "pent up anger", and "bursting with happiness".

I agree with John's latter sentiment:  speak your mind and make yourself known. Misunderstanding is everywhere. It is present when we translate scripts, experience different cultures, misinterpret body language. But rather than saying too much, I encourage everyone to understand the weight of their words, and to speak with deliberation.

If only the world could adopt this notion…

We would not second-guess one another; deceit would fall out of use and out of our dictionaries, we would be honest, aiming for directness. Sometimes, though, this attitude is hardest to implement in ourselves.

So many times I shirk compliments, as do my friends. We lie to ourselves constantly. We let our feelings divert actuality. We paint a world that does not exist, except in our heads. We let pain and hope alter our realities.

Recovery Pastimes

The girls and I have had a whirlwind of emotions lately  - resultantly, we've undergone so much growth this year. So we decide to take our minds off what can and can't be, and invest our time in certainty:  fortune telling.

The girls all paid their money and got their fortunes told. It was a stomach-clenching endeavour indeed. Even though I refused, I shared their anticipation, relief, and revelations. Here's the stall.

Seems Legitimate;
run by the "most popular male fortune teller in Wales"
or perhaps the only one?

Post-Fortune Blues

2 out of the 3 girls, initially longing for knowledge, regretted it as they hated how cemented their futures seemed. Me, having so many questions about my future, was dying to know what he'd have said (had I gone). T'was a weary afternoon. The girls couldn't stomach their food, so I had to have it! What turmoil (hehehe)!

Mmmm… that's deep, dude!

but legit, some of it really was.

Still in Vacation Mode

+Laura Platt , +Alice Jarvis and I visited the Cardiff Castle today. We're like, really good at taking photos.

With or without the finger….

Decisions, decisions.

We had a great time at the Castle, becoming adventure connoisseurs.

Sal:  It's a Male. The females have longer tail feathers.

(I made that up).

Sal:  This is where they traditionally held fencing matches.

(I made that up).
