Opening Night Blues
The Series of "Lasts"
I'm sorry I'm doing this to everyone, but it is what it is! We have had a ginormous week of rehearsals, coming to College with wet hair only to dry and spray it back into submission, waking up daily with mascara gunk in one's eyes (no matter how rigorously you tried taking it off the night before), and for yours truly, getting tattoo makeup EVERYWHERE. It's been a struggle, everyone in the dressing room worried about their individual scenes, about the energy of the show, about progress.

Well... We also came to realise that this is our last production together... so the series of lasts.

What you see above are photos from our last rehearsal in the Seligman Studio! We have pretty much lived in this room since the word go, segregating ourselves from the other drama students and sweating/crying a lot in dance classes. It also is a "smart temperature" room that boils you when you're hot and chills you when you're cold. To any future RWCMDers, bring layers.
Prayer Time
As you kinda/sorta know, my prospects for staying in the UK are dependent on me getting an agent after this show. I've figured out that I can apply for a Visa to stay for two more years, so on the legal front I'm covered. As I discussed Christmas plans with my landlady, I suddenly realised: in two week's time, I will either be taking a nice "vacation" at home else I will be packing up my whole room and leaving the UK. I don't really know when I'll be back if that's the case. It's a bit scary, but more pressingly, a bit laden. Of course, our MAMT (masters of musical theatre) group will never be together again, so we all have a bit of reminiscing in store, but it is a shock to the system to come to the end of the year and realise - I may never be in the same country as these people again!
Now with one of my Oz drama groups, Artes Christi, we'd begin and end each performance with a prayer. I have kept this tradition on personally through the years, but it was with great surprise that Kelly suggested I say a prayer before last night's performance. Kell, Andrew, Cor and I held hands and I began rambling, how grateful I was for them and this year... something about the performance.

We had to truncate the prayer for fear of getting overemotional, but I reiterate: I am so grateful for this year and for meeting these people. We are such a stubborn group, which makes life so much more... diverse. And no matter our worries, we were meant to be here and now, so just go with it, hey?
Last Minute Shout-Outs
Thank you all for the well-wishes for the performances! I assure you, they're going splendidly. Special mention to +Caitlin Roberts, who had the forethought and the cleverness to make sure a girl got flowers on her opening night!
and to my parents, who like the crazy people they are (or well, my Ma's crazy and my Dad tags along) are coming to Cardiff for three days so they can see my awful selection of faces.
