"Fast" - Not Quite
The First Term is Done
They said it would go by so quickly. Before we knew it, we'd be doing our end of the year show. To some extent, I agree, but time doesn't change pace. We're busy, we're accomplishing a lot. If time went by faster than normal, we wouldn't have accomplished all that we have in the past 3 months.
What is that, exactly?
We've gotten fit. Really fit. We've gone through mock dance and singing auditions. We've workshopped with a handful of exceptional professionals, and we've gleaned a lot. For me, the learning isn't necessarily in technique, but in mentality. Rather than entering a room being bogged down by the need to be liked, I must enter the room with a positive energy and an unparalleled enthusiasm. This past week, we were lucky enough to work with Kev on stage combat. We've all been so bruised from the fights, but it was well worth it! I've only got this slo-mo recording of Luke and Kev. Enjoy:)
How is positivity achieved?
The simple solution: just go for it. Don't worry about technique and "wow-ing" the panel with the perfect song choice, or the perfect belted note. Just choose to portray yourself. Something valuable I've learned in the past fortnight is this: my strength in singing lies in my warmth of tone and belt. Although I'm working on other things (ahem, high notes), I can still concentrate on what I excel in - what a relief! Sometimes, though, you just have to let yourself have fun. On the final day of term (and Adina's last day in our flat), we decided to go out in the city!

Celebration* Ensues
How do Laura and I celebrate? We're literally the only ones left in the flat. Tommy and Louis went off traveling through Europe, and Mariza is so quiet, we don't know if she's here or not.
We celebrate by wearing our pjs all day and using that as an excuse to laugh. We dance, and we spice up old songs by implementing absurd accents. We rummage through our fridge and cupboards for any edible scraps of food. We spend time in our rooms, me listening to more Sondheim tracks and she watching some more Avatar Korra.
This is literally the first day we've had where Nothing has been expected of us, and it is such a relief.
I can't ever sit still though, so I ended up having a huge room makeover. It is still in progress, but look, a keyboard!
