Hi All,
This week I had two shifts at the restaurant. TWO. I also had two dodgeball evenings. TWO. Since it was a bare week in terms of work, I was able to relish activities in my real job: acting. Duh.
So I went to a dance class, I visited a museum, I met up with
+Bruce Guthrie for an acting session, I watched a fringe musical, and finally got a chill night with my flatmate Flo. We watched Empire Records, a funny film featuring a young Liv Tyler and Renee Zellweger. We also shared a bottle of sparkling wine.
Drinking isn't a thing for me usually. Sometimes after a stressful shift at the restaurant, I finish off with some cider or a glass of wine. Nothing too drastic. Last night was our staff party, however, so I may have ended up at home, skyping my parents because I was afraid to go to sleep that drunk. In retrospect, our conversation was probably akin to the one when I got my wisdom teeth out. I was recovering from being drugged but remember insisting my mom took a photo of my bruised face and swollen eyes. That's one hilariously ugly picture, if you ask me! When "putting me to bed" last night, my father was like, "Sal, you'll be fine." I can imagine how many drunken nights he'd had to deal with - him growing up and when my brothers were growing up - so Sal getting tipsy is no major concern to him.
I got up this morning just fine. No hangover, still drunk. I popped some food in the microwave and voila! As good as gold. I wouldn't recommend tequila if you want nice dreams, though. I felt my fears culminate in a series of nasty nightmares where people I liked told me how it really was (essentially that they thought me annoying/rude). No fun!
Oh, and did I mention I met up with Aussie friends too?! LOVED seeing Chetan, Kate and Emma. Our roots go back to NUTS (New South Wales University Theatrical Society).

I was really upset I missed the Edinburgh Fringe this year, but upon suggestion from Bruce, I looked up little theatres here in London. Alas, I found a production that came to London after a successful run up north, so I caught it on my Saturday night (as everyone else was glued to the rugby screens). Not only did I love the selection of shows this little pub theatre boasts, I thought, "hell yes, this is a venue for me". Where there are 45 seats and cardboard boxes as a set. Where the musicians interact with the actors and title (and main song) of the show is "Get Your Sh*t Together".

| That's what I call a budget-friendly set. |

And shell we finish off with some mussels? Before the staff party, Mr. Boss Man said we could choose anything from the menu to have as staff food, as long as it was under £15. I'm a high roller. We've recently introduced these mussels to the menu, in a light yellow curry sauce. Served with chips and sourdough. Somebody was in heaven. My hand is still a bit curry-stained but I'm so glad I got to try a bit of heaven.

Two weeks from today I'll be up in Northampton, rehearsing for my cruise! What joy! What absolute bliss! I know that it'll be difficult to be away from home on the special days of winter, but I must say that I'm destined to adopt a ship family and have a blast with the other performers. Not to mention, I hear the men are tall and handsome and a little bit daft? My cuppa tea!
Joking, I need thought-provoking conversation, but I know there will be some outliers to the norm.
