Rainbow Christmas
Let's Be Honest

Sharifa and Christian, going for the GOLD
No matter who you talk to, how you prepare, or what you're doing, Christmas away from family is going to have some blue moments. My cast organised a wonderful Secret Santa, we went out for ice skating together, I made it to church (and caught a Nigerian reenactment of the Nativity), and had a wonderful movie night. I was even able to skype Dave for a quick chat. I think that's when blue hit; he was there; I was here. Then we danced the night away until they kicked us out, and Simon managed to convince reception to let us have a junior suite for the night so we could keep up the frivolities.

Life works out like a pendulum; the more you allow yourself to explore one emotion, the more capacity you have for swinging the other way. Both you and I know how happy... no, ecstatic I'll be when I see my family next. To be able to keep adventuring the world while nurturing an appreciation for my family is something I choose to do.
And the blues wouldn't be the blues without some blue notes.

The Silja Fam on Christmas Day
Christmas came and we adorned our Santa hats and Christmas sweaters. Fortunately for us, the worst that happened was a few Christmas hats flying off during pirouettes. Actually, the worst was the fact that I ate heaps of dessert during our meal and then ran back to eat some more between shows. I've been naughty. Santa still treated me nicely.
My Secret Santa was none other than Becky, who was very sly about the whole thing. I guessed that she was my Secret Santa at the beginning, but a turn of events made my judgment go astray. Low and behold, she remembered a few of my favourite things and got me a super cosy hat and scarf (that of course are green). Other awesome presents include nail polish, sweets and a cookie. And we all know how I love cookies.

So Happy Sharifa's Here #fellowwasian
Today, Sharifa and I resumed our cultural outings, going to Millesgarden. The garden was full with sculptures by artist Swedish artist Milles, and we were able to see his house, replete with mosaic floor and more sculptures. Many were based on Greek Mythology, so I was obviously reliving my youthful studies with great relish. Both Sharif and I thought it cool that Poseidon watched over our ship whenever we docked in Stockholm.

And as I wait for all these petulant photos to load, I want to say that indeed, God has been good. Christmas came in all sorts of colours so blue became green became red became orange. I've had a few pleasant surprises over the past few days too, so I got splash of yellow too. And my nails are purple and gold.
Lovely.
