Fanciful Fae
The Beginning
Imagine a woman sitting upright in bed, dabbing her face with a green tea teabag and wondering whether the pink of her nails have ebbed away enough to remove. She's quietly typing away, digesting her veggie-heavy breakfast, sipping a fresh cup of green tea and wondering how the week will pan out.
She's a woman who's made many discoveries in the past week. One who balanced two new jobs with two old ones, who's back practicing piano and expanding her vocal repertoire, who managed to fit in a date, a yoga class, a recital, an art gallery, a jam session, a vocal workshop, and after-work drinks into one week. Last week.
It's wonderful to be busy. I've friends who always tell me to relax, that I'm doing too much. Any time I'm upset, the go-to advice is to relax. Give yourself a rest, etc. For some, that's exactly what's needed. A laborious schedule always calls for rest. My "laborious schedule" reflects the variety of an actor's lifestyle, and it doesn't need "rest". It is filled with change, ebbs and flows and ups and downs. For me, what might be needed is some sort of constant. When my world is busy, I am the core, the centre of my galaxy. When my world is sporadic, I have no momentum, and swim around amidst everything I'm meant to be controlling. Without motivation, I am lost.
Let's just beware of this galaxy spinning out of control.
Life's Lesson
I know that I've a tendency to get caught up in it all, trying to fit too much into my limited time. I imagine my time as a number, always capable of being divided into smaller and smaller pieces. There's always time if you make the time. There's always a lesson if you reflect enough. The more you live of life, the more it becomes both perfect and imperfect. I wouldn't have it any other way.
It's funny that the space bar means both "pause" and "play". I think it's pretty important that you cannot have one without the other. As last week's sunshine diminished into a wet weekend, so too must this week's hailing, wet and cold forecast morph into something else. Now my new coworker says, "my mood is like the weather, constantly changing." I'll exercise something more: "my mood is greater than the weather, I control what's within regardless of what's without."
Whoever's Reading in the USA
If you're at all acquainted with my bro, +David Horton, please give him a hollah! It's his birthday today. And as I'm sure he's lining up at all the fancy restaurants to celebrate, I'm going to line up a few more songs to learn, a few more promo shifts, and who knows? Maybe even some rock climbing (I'll let you know how it goes +Cara Welker, hehe).
Until next time, readers.
