Habits Die Hard, Habits Build Up

Thanksgiving

I'm used to having decadent and riotous Thanksgivings with the family, so coming home and microwaving some leftovers was hardly celebratory. However, it's not so bad when I was able to Skype home anyway and see the family. Plus +David Horton sent me a series of snapchats that make it seem less far away. Thanks, Dave!

BOO Yah!

Some of the cast Did convince me to go out for our lunch break. So we celebrated in style at Café Citta. I conveniently didn't focus on any of my friends in this shot.

Stage Rehearsals

If you've ever worked with me or heard my rants, you know that I can become obsessed with parts of my acting that just aren't working. The past week or so, I've been playing Amy with near-exhaustion, trying in desperation to let her fiancĂ© down nicely. It wasn't working because it eliminated a key element in the character and compromised a few others (you'll just have to come watch to see)! Now that I've figured it out and upped the energy, it's sitting wonderfully. We open next week! It's an exciting time for us all as we grow accustomed to the elaborate set, all the wonderful props, platforms, secret passageways, etc, that we could only imagine in the rehearsal room.

Some of us have taken responsibility of "documenting" this show, finally realising that this is it. No more RWCMD in a fortnight. Most of us have adopted a "how'd this year go so fast" attitude. Well, I think over my accomplishments of this year and I say, "Yep, I couldn't have done all that in less than a year."

It's the Little Things

(accidentally quoting the show there).

Like what, Sal?

For instance, changing voice teachers and adopting a new set of expectations and approach to singing. Growing comfortable with improv, physicalising emotions, forgetting lines and allowing organic things to happen. Eliminating the need to think 5+ steps ahead on stage. Organising singing gigs in the city. Cycling daily and learning to unicycle. Solidifying friendships and letting others go. Developing an appreciation for Iggy, the house cat.

Where to Now, Sal?

I don't know. I've got a few budding opportunities but nothing that I can grasp definitely. It's exciting this way, for me, and for you, the reader. We can play a game of "where in the world is Sally Horton"? and the odds won't be obvious. Maybe we Should play the game. Whoever wins, gets to come visit me. Capiche?

^^ Look, I'm not thinking 5+Steps ahead. Yay for Sal!
