The Cultural Things to Do

Number 1: Dylathon

As Dylan Thomas celebrates his 100th birthday, Emma and I grabbed a bus to Swansea to enjoy readings of Thomas' works. The event was planned for a total of 36 hours, and included performances from Jo Brand (who we saw) and Ian McKellan (who we didnt see, damn). It was interesting, but then we got hungry. We ended up buying bacon cheeseburgers and this pin, for Kelly.

I Can't Believe I Let Emma Buy This!
Pigeons are My Favourite.

I LOVE DEM PIGEONS!

Number 2: RWCMD Acting Shows

This week the 3rd years put on performances of Dogville and Strange Orchestra. Well done all around! Really enjoyable work all :)

Number 3: (Duh!) Opera

So I am finally getting to know the musicians around here, and one of my latest acquaintances is Will, who conducted Britten's "The Turn of the Screw"! I was so impressed with the magnitude of the voices, and the precision of the orchestra, not to mention Will conducting with such grace and vigour! All of this contrasted with the fact that he was conducting with a pencil

He Said a Pencil Works Better than Any Conductor Baton.
His Signature Look for the Rest of his Career then!

Number 4: Halloweening

Fleeced! friends Matt and James were playing last night in the SUBar (at college) where most students congregated in costume! Being the last-minute scoundrel that I was, my costume (of a Peacock) was tame and undistinguishable. The band sounded and looked awesome though!

So You Can Only See Matt's Shadow, but fear not! He's wearing a blonde, braided wig.

Let's face it; if it wasn't for Tommy insisting I come out ("This may be our only Halloween together!"...  boo-hoo), I would've stayed home with an assorted pack of candies. So thank you, Tommy!

Number 5: Book Flights to Sydney

Get your goon sacks filled and party dress on, because I'm coming for you!!!

Put it in your Diaries: Sal arrives NYE.

Too soon, huh?
NEVER TOO SOON!

SADDLE UP, SYDNEY!
